ProgramsHow We Empower Teachers
A scale never before attempted
1 Million Teachers (1MT) is an education technology social enterprise that’s attracting and training new teachers on a scale never before attempted. Our programs combine the foundation of what has always made a great teacher with modern tools that multiply what is possible.
Our work is designed to go beyond the practical skills and inspire lifelong learners who feel confident and satisfied in their profession. Examples of modules and topics include:
- NProject Management
- NInclusive Teaching
- NCritical and Creative Thinking
- NCurriculum Design
- NAssessment Guidelines
Our programming is accessed as individuals and through partner organizations.
Current and aspiring teachers independently seek our services to aid in their professional journey. We are able to offer affordable and often free programs to these individuals through the generosity of donors and partners.
For the latest information on programs available for individual registration, visit our Teachers Portal. To support our mission of creating universally accessible teacher training, we invite you to donate today.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals can only be met if we work together. We are the programming partner of choice for educational institutions, governments, donors, foundations and nonprofit organizations all around the world.
We partner to multiply the number of prospective teachers we reach. Our partner clients include aspiring teachers, schools, governments, donors (individuals and corporate), nonprofits and foundations.
The Black Belt Program
This is our signature program, available to groups and individuals. The online component is self-paced to allow for the flexible needs of our participating teachers and it incorporates gamification best practices to keep participants engaged and maximize knowledge retention. While it includes a digital platform, it has been designed to be functional with minimal technological devices and internet access.
HH MSII SDG Challenge
We’ve partnered with His Highness Muhammad Sanusi II of Kano (HH MSII) in service of his deep personal mandate for advancing the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Our partnership leverages our core Black Belt Program and builds on it through funding student impact projects and offering valuable networking and mentorship supports.
We create opportunities for aspiring teachers at our academic partner organizations to participate in three-week global knowledge exchanges, known as an alternative practicum. These cross-cultural teaching experiences are carefully designed to ensure an empowering experience for all involved, with the focus being on the mutual professional development of partner participants and 1MT trainees.
